Happy Easter!!!!!  After brunch with my family I took Bunny out in my parents backyard with an easter basket and bow to tie around him.  He was so excited to be outside that he kept running away from me when I tried to pose him in the basket.  Finally I gave up.......but he held still long enough for me to catch him sniffing around.  

I recently placed this photograph in the Nikon Forum best of college photography photo contest for 2011.  Out of 14,000 contestants I received honorable mention which means my photo was in the top 100.  I have been trying to place in the competition for a couple years now.....so I was thrilled when I found out.  A couple weeks after I received the good news about this photograph, I got another letter in the mail from the Nikon Forum magazine.  The letter said that because my photo placed highly in the competition, they wanted to know if I would be interested in submitting my portfolio for potential publication in the magazine!  I officially sent in my portfolio today!  

This is Gemmy Cat.  She is giving me a dirty look because her and I no longer get along.  The day that I got my pet rabbit was the day that she ended our relationship.  I still love her........sometimes........when she isn't chasing bunny around.

Double exposure taken with a 4x5 view camera.  I was experimenting with lighting on different textures and materials during my studio lighting course I was enrolled in last school year.  The photo ending up being selected by a panel of judges for the Student Annual at Illinois State University's gallery.  The reason why I am posting this today is because I decided to submit it in the Nikon Forum contest Best of Photography 2011.  Hopefully it will place!!! fingers crossed!!

This is my youngest brother Jack......well, this was him about 6 years ago.  I found this picture when I was scanning old film from high school.  This photo was from the very first role of medium format film that I experimented with.  I used my Dad's old Rolleiflex camera and an old role of film that he had laying around, went out in our backyard (of course dragging along my little brother as a subject) and snapped away.  Most of the photos were under or over exposed........this was the only one that came out decent.  Jack always tags along with me when I go on my photo adventures and I love having his help!

I spent the entire day scanning and editing photos, trying to get my portfolio put together.  This was one of the photos that I came across.  It was taken my sophomore year of college during my photo one course.  Not sure yet if it will be in the portfolio, but it will always be one of my favorites.    

Best fortune cookie I have ever got.  I order the same thing from the same chinese food place, Bings Wok, all the time......so much so that the woman who owns it knows who I am when I call.  The only reason she remembers me is because I call for carry out and place an order of 2 large chicken fried rice every time.  When I first began to order she would give me around 5 fortune cookies..........however, after multiple times of walking in the place alone, she soon caught on that only I would be eating the rice.  So now she only places ONE fortune cookie in my carryout bag.....and this was my fortune for today.  :)

Found this tree stump right outside of the Center of Visual arts on my way home from scanning negatives.  

Spring is here!  Or have we skipped it?!  85 degrees today!

My energetic roommate Tina convinced me to hang out with her at her friends house before they went to "Spring Fest" until I had to go to work at 5.  It is a day that gives college students an excuse to day drink with a bunch of live music and festivities at all the bars in the downtown Bloomington area...........after a few hours in the sun I definitely did not want to go to work!  It was truly a gorgeous day!

While driving I noticed four chairs placed curb side of a home in Normal, Illinois.  The chairs screaming personality and odd arrangement was irresistible........I backed up my car, parked, snapped the shot and went on my way.  

This sad looking plant belongs to my roommate Mary.  She only decides to water it when it looks like this.......and surprisingly, the plant returns back to its normal thriving self every time.  (Except this time, I have my doubts.)

In passing, I found a fake fabric flower popping out of a pile of leaves left over from fall.....it created an interesting combination in the newly green spring season.

The Squirrels in my parents backyard have become far too confident.  We are no longer allowed to feed our backyard friends peanuts.  They must return to attacking the bird feeder as a source of food.
